Thay Pagoda Festival

thay pagodaThay Village (nowadays called as Thuy Khe Village) is located at the foot of Sai Son Mountain, and belongs to Quoc Oai District, Ha Noi. The mountain has a number of old pagodas the most well known of which is the Th?y Pagoda where is also worshipped Tu Dao Hanh, a monk of the Ly Dynasty who hailed from Lang Village (Ha Noi) and was endowed with supernatural powers.

Visitors come to this village all the year round for several reasons. The village and Sai Son Mountain provide well-known scenic sports involving a nice lake (Long Tri Lake) which has in the middle of it a big house fro viewing yearly water puppets shows and two wooden bridges with curved tiled roofs, and many beautiful mountain caves.

Thanh Minh (Day of the Dead)

tet thanh minhLike the other cultures of the world, all Vietnam festivals and events are dedicated to something or somebody. They are celebrated to worship deities, to honor their ancestors and also to respect the kings of Vietnam who have played vital roles in both cultural and industrial development and in shaping the country as it stands today. One such occasion where they remember their ancestors is the Thanh Minh (Day of the Dead).
 
The Thanh Minh (Day of the Dead), Vietnam is celebrated on the third lunar month. During this festival people visit the graves of their ancestors to pay their respects. The graves are cleaned, and foods and flowers are offered and incense sticks are lighted.

Thai Vi Temple Festival

thai vi festivalThe festival is organized annually on the 14th -17th of March of the lunar calendar in Van Lam village, Ninh Hai commune, Hoa Lu district. It has the purpose of commemorating King Tran – who was a credit to the nation.
 
The worshipping part is carried out in two ways, namely the procession and the sacrifice. The procession is performed by over 30 teams coming from communes in Hoa Lu district and others within the province.
After procession, sacrifice is implemented. Sacrifice is an important ceremonial hold in front of the temple.
The entertainment is a jolly time for people and festival guests as it includes kylin dancing and the dragon dance, playing human chess, wrestling, rowing, etc.

Phu giay festival

phu giay festivalPhu Giay festival takes place annually from the 1st to the 10th of the third lunar month in Kim Thai commune, Vu Ban district, Nam Dinh province.
 
Phu Giay is the place where worships Lieu Hanh - one of "four immortal gods" of Vietnamese. The third lunar month is the time agricultural work is relatively leisurely. Peasants are waiting for reaping. This is the most suitable time for organizing festivals. Thus, people in the northern plain are eager to go on pilgrimages with the aim at both relaxing after hard working days and feeling the harmony between human and nature; visiting natural landscapes and splendid architectural works made by hand. More especially, they go on pilgrimages to satisfy their spiritual   need, to seek   for   religious   belief for expecting better things in their lives. Phu Giay festival, every year; attracts a lot of visitors from Lang Son, Hai Phong, Mong Cai, Thai Binh; Ha Noi... creating brilliant setting in spring.

Hung King Temple Festival

It is said that thousands of years ago, Lac Long Quan (King Dragon of the Land of Lac) had superhuman strength and liked to stay near water. He succeeded to the throne of his father, and governed the Lac-Viet tribe. De Lai, king of a northern tribe, with his daughter Au Co made a trip to visit the south.
